I arrived at Pauline’s home on 12 May 2026, when I had just arrived in Ireland. Since then, my stay has generally been a good and positive experience.
Pauline has provided me with a welcoming and comfortable place to stay during an important period of adjustment to life in Ireland. I have had good access to the house and have generally been able to use the shared facilities, including the kitchen, bathroom, shower and washing facilities, without significant difficulty. Having access to these facilities has made my stay considerably easier and has allowed me to maintain my normal daily routine.
I also appreciate the opportunity to have had a place where I could settle while finding my feet in a new country, particularly during the early stages of starting my work and establishing myself in Ireland.
As with any living arrangement, every person has their own strengths, preferences and areas where things may not always be perfect. I believe it is important to recognise this fairly rather than expect everything to be ideal. There have naturally been some differences in personalities, routines and expectations, but overall these have not taken away from my general positive experience of staying in Pauline’s home.
From 12 May until now, I would describe my stay as generally good and satisfactory. I am grateful to Pauline for providing accommodation during this important period of my transition and settlement in Ireland.
I would also like to inform Hosting Power that I will be leaving Pauline’s home on Friday, 21 August 2026 as i have found my own accommodation, bringing my stay to an end. I am grateful for the accommodation and for the opportunity to have had this place to stay while I settled into my new life in Ireland.

Claire and Michael were lovely hosts during my three-month stay in Cork. The room provided was quite large and spacious, which included an excellent desk and workspace that I used daily for work. The stay also included a dedicated bathroom down the hall and plenty of fridge and pantry space. Although this was a busy family home, I felt there was plenty of space to accommodate our different schedules and needs. Cork city centre was walkable in about 30 minutes and there were also several nearby bus stops servicing the area. Grocery delivery made my (mostly) carless stay much easier. Claire and Michael's home also made a great base for longer weekend trips all up and down the west coast. Claire kindly picked me up at the train station upon arrival and Michael joined me on my first time driving a car in Ireland (I'm from the US), which helped me feel much more comfortable driving all over the west coast this past summer. They were both very kind, helpful, and accessible during my entire stay, while providing me plenty of space for my own endeavors. I couldn't have asked for a better host family!

The room and bathroom were exactly as described, clean, comfortable and exactly what was shown. The house felt welcoming and safe, and I felt at ease throughout my stay. The location was very convenient; to get downtown I took the 15B or the 16, and for UCD there was the direct S6 in the morning, no transfers needed. Jacinta was always welcoming and available when needed, which really made my stay pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place.

Their lovely dog, Taylor, was always friendly and eager to say hello whenever I came home, and their cat, Dusty, was just as welcoming.

They were always happy to offer advice on where to find things, genuinely interested in how my day had gone, and ready for a friendly chat. As keen GAA supporters, they also made it possible for me to enjoy a match or two with them on the telly, which was a lovely bonus!
